The Prince of Wales has caused much excitement today with his latest royal news.

Prince William has sent his fans into a frenzy today as he makes his latest royal announcement. The Prince of Wales, 42, has confirmed that The Earthshot Prize will be held in Rio, Brazil, this November. The environmental prize, which was set up by the future King in 2020, aims to find and scale innovative solutions to address the world’s greatest environmental challenges. Five awards of £1million are given out each year to winners in five categories.
Announcing the news on social media, William said: “Olá, Brasil!. The Earthshot Prize is coming to Rio this November!Get ready for big announcements, inspiring stories, and 15 new incredible Finalists from around the world, all in the heart of Brazil. Surrounded by Rio’s beautiful landscapes and irresistible energy, we’re spotlighting changemakers where innovation and nature unite to regenerate our planet.”

Since releasing a video to confirm the news on the official @princeandprincessofwales social media account, royal fans have been sent into a frenzy, including fans from Brazil.
One person wrote: “What a beautiful country to have it! How perfect.”
A second said: “How incredibly exciting for my home country.”
Another commented: “Rio is waiting for you!”

Last year, the prince held the annual event in Cape Town, South Africa, which he attended solo.
It was here that he spoke publicly about the “brutal” year the Royal Family had experienced as a result of the King and Princess Kate’s cancer battles.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Kate will be attending this year’s Earthshot Prize celebrations with her husband.
